Practice weapons:
| I use the gray conduct plastic pipe that is thicker walls than PVC pipe (white) plus I've had PVC pipe snap in half). I then wrap the pipe in the foam insulation that comes with a slit down the side of it, not the light stuff that is cheap but the higher quality black foam that almost feels kinda rubber like. Last I use black duct tape and wrap the ends with pieces about 6" long to prevent cuts from the sharp edge. Then wrap the whole weapon with the tape spiral like from top to bottom with one piece of tape (I over lap about 1/2 of the tape to prevent separation). |

For safety make sure you have about 2-4" left on then end of the weapon of extra foam, to fold over the end of the pipe, so that pokes and stabs will not cause injury. Also I prefer to wrap it pretty tight to make ti "feel" better> On a staff I wrap the whole thing (also half staff), but on sword I just wrap foam around the part of the weapon that would be the blade (still wrap the "blade" and handle in tape). This also works good for clubs (I wrap like the sword) I have even put double insulation one club for kids to use, (to do the 2nd layers had to use double the wrap and have the two halves meet each other) |
